DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — A South Carolina man has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison for a fatal rollover crash that killed a Wyoming man in western North Dakota.

The Dickinson Press reports that 53-year-old Wayne Pauli of Akins, S.C., was sentenced Thursday in Southwest District Court.

Akins Pauli originally faced a charge of manslaughter, but it was changed to a lesser charge of negligent homicide in a plea deal.

Authorities say Spencer Glen Rae of Lyman, Wyo., was killed in the crash near Hebron in early April.

Police measured Pauli's blood-alcohol content at 0.06. The legal threshold for drunken driving in North Dakota is 0.08. Authorities say Pauli also had been smoking marijuana.
