Becker County, MN (WDAY TV) - At least 50 people in Becker County have noticed strange charges to the debit and credit cards.
Police are investigating the charges, most of which are coming from Texas.
Brenda Enget knew something was strange when she received a bill for her Chase credit card, to the tune of $1700.
Problem is that she had never even used that card.
Brenda Enget/Becker County Resident: "I said well, where did I buy something, what was it? The more we looked into it we realized it was in Texas, and we hadn't been in Texas."
The charges were for a hotel in San Antonio.
Then, just days ago, her sister, Connie Pedersen got a call from her bank.
Connie Pedersen/Becker County Resident: "Not only had we used our card in Detroit Lakes, which was accurate, there was also a charge in I think they said Fort Worth, Texas."
And they are not the only ones - far from it.
The police department in Detroit Lakes has fielded calls from about 50 people - and those are just the ones who have actually contacted police.
Police are now asking everyone to examine their accounts and let them know about any strange activity.
Many have reported the charges are coming from Texas.
Most, but not all, of the reports have come from people with Bremer bank accounts. Bremer released a statement saying it's aware of the fraud, and any customers will be reimbursed any lost funds.
Neither Enget nor Pedersen bank at Bremer, but say they won't be out any money either.
Enget: "Interesting, why this area? And why the related to the cities in Texas?"
