Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An important history lesson at NDSU today, United States Air Force veteran Ron Spriggs visited campus to tell the story of the Tuskegee Airmen.

The famed airmen are credited with being the first "mostly African American" aerial combat unit in the armed forces.

Spriggs says it's important to keep their history alive.

Ron Spriggs/Exec. Dir., Ron Spriggs Exhibit of Tuskegee Airmen: “We don't want the history of the Tuskegee airmen to die. They were very good at what they did in World War 2 as escort and bomber pilots and we want our children to know that, your children to know that as well.”

Spriggs says the Tuskegee Airmen's biggest legacy is overcoming segregation, while helping win the war.
