Hawley defeats Holdingford in quarterfinals matchup

Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - A trip to the Metrodome and the state semifinals on the line as Hawley took on Holdingford in the 2-A quarterfinals.

Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - A trip to the Metrodome and the state semifinals on the line as Hawley took on Holdingford in the 2-A quarterfinals.

Late 4th, Hawley up a touchdown, but Holdingford's Mitch Messman keeps it for the score, the 2-pointer puts the Huskers up 22-21 with 5 minutes left.

The Nuggets work in a hurry, Jordan Harms to Ben Ellefson who rises between three defenders to make an outstanding catch, two plays later Harms finds his favorite target again, in the back of the end zone for the score, the 2-pointer gives Ellefson and the Nuggets a 29-22 lead with just over a minute left.

But the Huskers, have a chance in the red zone in the final seconds, Messman to Jeremy Springer,but Ellefson makes the tackle, and the clock runs out.

Hawley is going to the semifinals with a 29-22 win, the Nuggets get Chatfield next Friday at the Metrodome.

Ben Ellefson/Hawley Jr. Tight End: “I can't even say anything. I'm so at a loss for words. It was just awesome to come out here and play in front of these guys and we just got it done. It was just awesome.”

Jordan Harms/Hawley Jr. Quarterback: “Just stay focused, ya know, just eye on the prize. Just believe in yourself and good things happen.”
