Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's final four weekend in the North Dakota football playoffs and that's been winning time for the Shanley Deacons.

The defending Class 2A champs match up with St. Mary's Friday night.

The Saints beat Shanley to start the season back in August 14-9, the only game where the Deacons were held to single digits and reminders of that game are everywhere at practice.

Peter Simon- Shanley Senior RB/LB: “That lose really did wake us up a lot. We realized that we weren't as good as we thought we were, almost like we had to restart like where we were and think about where we had to go and how we had to get there. We take that to heart a little bit that they beat us. They were pretty excited about that they beat us. We have to come back this game and we got to come out firing and we got to get this win.”

Trenton Kelsch- Shanley Senior TE/DL: “We have been ever since that loss just going hard in every practice and played hard in every game. This season, we have learned a lot about our team and we have played well. We have a lot to prove yet in a couple of games hopefully.”

The Deacons are unbeaten all-time in the playoffs at Sid Cichy Stadium. It's a 6 p.m. kickoff Friday night.
