Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's that time of year again. Camo is replaced by blaze orange.

The deer gun season opens Friday in North Dakota; Saturday in Minnesota.

40,000 less licenses were granted this year in North Dakota.

Prime Cut Meats owner Tim Skauge says there will be a trickle-down effect.

40,000 less licenses will mean 20,000 less deer.

For the butchers in the middle of the state, that could be make-or-break.

Tim Skauge- Owner, Prime Cut Meats: “It's just one of those situations you have no control over, so I don't need to lose any more hair; so I don't worry about it.”

Hunters can bring deer with the skin on to Skauge's shop where he processes the rest.

Skauge says he has been preparing for the busy deer season for about a month.
