FARGO, ND (WDAY TV) - We've heard why some neighbors don't want a new elementary school at Ed Clapp Park such as traffic and safety.
But tonight - a new concern is air. The New Americans in the area.
Some people did speak in favor of the school at this public meeting.
No one more passionately than Ed Clapp's son.
He broke down in tears, saying it was always his father's dream to build a school on this land.
But, others talked about the construction, the increased traffic and cultural differences that will be under one school roof.
John Galea/Concerned Parent: “You got 10 complexes of low income immigrant populations where english is a second language or not even spoken in the household. My son would be subjected to those classrooms or that atmosphere.”
A final decision on the school is set to be made next week.
On Friday, a special facilities meeting will be held at the Depot.
