Students from Colfax are recognized at a national level

Colfax, ND (WDAY TV) - Students from the small town of Colfax, North Dakota are being recognized on a national level.

Colfax, ND (WDAY TV) - Students from the small town of Colfax, North Dakota are being recognized on a national level.

The Richland 44 FFA Chapter made up of 120 students is winner of a Model of Innovation award in community development.

Today the school held a recognition ceremony to honor about a dozen students who made a presentation at nationals in Louisville Kentucky.

They came back with a plaque and a national title for their project, in which chapter members built checkerboards for Sanford Children's Hospital.

Jenna Anderson/FFA Winner: “It's really amazing. It's a community service award and we do a lot of community service in Richland, but we're really just proud that it's made it this far, number one in the nation.”

The Richland FFA chapter is one of about 7,500 chapters across the county.
