Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The top-ranked Bison football team returns to the gridiron this Saturday off a second bye week, ready for the stretch run.
NDSU will play its first home game in a month when they host Illinois State.
The Redbirds come in red hot, winners of four straight, including a win over Northern Iowa on Saturday and they gave the Bison fits last season, grabbing a 10-0 lead, and the head coach warns against a slow start again this year.
Craig Bohl- 4-2 Record vs. ISU: “We needed to be fresher. We played Illinois State last year. I think we were a tired beat-up football team. We were fortunate to get the win on the road. We got to bring a great deal of more energy and that's important to play fast and we're in hopes the bye week will allow us to do that. We had a good week of practice last week, striking a balance in weight room and meetings and enough work to get us ready to play a very good team.”
Bohl added that he believes Wahpeton native Ryan Smith will be able to play Saturday. He's dealing with a high ankle sprain.
