Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - North Dakota Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorcheck started her campaign Monday to stay in her current office.

Fedorcheck has served in the position since December, replacing Kevin Cramer, who won his U.S. House of Representatives seat.

Governor Jack Dalrymple appointed her, but North Dakota laws say appointed officials must face voters at the next general election.

Fedorcheck says her political knowledge and on-the-job performance makes her the right candidate for the job.

Julie Fedorchak- ND Public Service Commissioner: “I want to preserve and protect our heritage and I also want this state to be a vibrant place of economic growth and opportunity for the future.”

The Public Service Commission oversees utility and mining companies and regulates in-state oil pipelines, telecommunications, grain elevators and auctioneers.

No other challengers have announced their candidacy for the election next November.
