A Grand Forks man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading officers on a foot chase through a trailer park.

Police say Patrick W. Johnson, 31, was driving his Mitsubishi Gallant on the east berm of 31st Ave. S. at about 4:30 p.m.

An officer attempted to make a traffic stop as Johnson was approaching S. 20th St.

Johnson fled the scene and a short vehicle pursuit started. Police say Johnson then stopped in the 2300 block of 24th Ave. S. and fled northbound on foot into the Columbia Heights Trailer Park.

A witness told police that Johnson had entered a trailer and a perimeter was set up by officers. The owner of the trailer was contacted and initially said that no one had entered. Officers requested to search the home because the witness was adamant that Johnson was hiding there.

The homeowner then allowed police inside, where they found Johnson hiding in a closet in the entryway of the trailer.

Johnson was placed under arrest for several charges including an outstanding Municipal Court Warrant.

Police say Johnson's apprehension wouldn't have been possible without the help of the trailer park's residents.

Investigation of the incident is ongoing.
