MANFRED, N.D. (AP) — A nonprofit group in the central North Dakota town of Manfred has received a matching grant from the State Historical Society to help restore the town's old school.

The school is at the Manfred Heritage Museum. The Minot Daily News reports that officials plan to make interior repairs, restore windows and front steps, and put on a new front door.

The project is expected to cost more than $25,000. The work is to begin this fall and be completed by November 2014.

The Manfred school was built in 1910 and operated until 1973. When the restoration work is finished it will be used to exhibit early school days at the museum.
