Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Because of the uncertainty, the well-known annual Christmas Concerts have been moved to the Fargo Civic Center a week later than originally planned.

That has sparked a conversation among music students who say the school should have a Performing Arts Center made for musical performances.

The music program at Concordia is well-known, but the school does not have a performing arts center on campus. They host their big concerts here at Memorial Auditorium.

Some students say that has to change.

Memorial Auditorium has been the spot for many of Concordia's musical performance, including the popular annual Christmas Concerts, but students say it's less than ideal.

Megan Donovan- Choir Member: "The choir, the orchestra and band are world-renowned. We travel all the time. That we don't even have somewhere to perform for just us, we have to share with different sports teams, it doesn't seem like we're given enough credit."

They would like to see a Performing Arts Center on campus, specifically designed for musical performances.

Some are trying to organize a petition asking the school to make that a priority.

Donovan: "Hopefully, that can make even a little bit of an impression. That would be great."

Mike Brumm- Band Member: "Alumni that I know that have graduated in the past have always talked about having a music hall here."

School officials say there currently are no plans for a music hall.

Tim Wollenzien- Director of Cultural Events: "There are lots of wishes and dreams, but no plans."

But students say they hope this might spark a conversation about the need for a space of their own.

Brumm: "Now, since we have something that needs to be fixed, will they take that opportunity to build a new music hall? I doubt it, but I'm hoping that in some point in the future, Concordia will come up with that."

The Concordia Christmas concerts will now be held December 13-15th at the Fargo Civic Center.
