Boston, Mass. (WDAY TV) - The party won't be stopping in Boston any time soon. That's after the Red Sox won their first World Championship at home since 1918 when they beat the Cardinals Wednesday night.

Shane Victorino was the hero last night. He broke the game open with a three-run double to pace Boston to a 3-0 lead. Stephen Drew added a solo blast in the 4th inning and the terrific Boston bullpen shut down the potent Cardinals lineup and the Red Sox are World Champs for the third time in the last 10 years.

John Farrell- Red Sox Manager: “To be in this position given where we come from reflecting back a year ago at this time, a lot has happened in 13 months. To come in and see energy and commitment to buy into team-concept thing that stood out was will to win evident this entire postseason.”
