Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Children are twice as likely to get hit by a car Thursday night.
As trick-or-treaters hit the streets on Halloween night, we have some tips to keep the celebration safe.
It is a perfectly eerie scene in this Fargo neighborhood as trick-or-treaters get started, but parents should give their children a few reminders before they start going door-to-door.
Tell kids to look both ways before crossing the street and make eye contact with drivers before walking in front of them.
Children wearing masks should be extra cautious if their vision is blocked.
If possible, brightly-colored costumes are preferred over dark colors that are more difficult to see.
Brendan Krupich- F-M Ambulance Outreach Coordinator: "Probably a good idea to send them with flashlights or glow sticks or something; and as drivers, just keep an eye out."
And Brendan Krupich with F-M ambulance also recommends that children under 12 have an adult along.
