Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo police are questioning a 16-year-old boy after an early morning sexual assault of a minor.

A report came in around 6:30 a.m. When a thirteen year old girl says she was on her way to a friend’s house to catch a ride to school.

That's when the attack allegedly happened along Oak Street and sixth avenue north in Fargo.

The 16 year-old male was in the area when police arrived.

Officials say the two most likely know each other, but are continuing to further investigate.

Lt. Joel Vettel/Fargo Police Department: "that's very common when we have a situation especially involving juveniles. We make sure we detain and obviously be in contact with the family, with the parents and once we've done that we try and conduct the interviews and the entire investigation as quickly as possible."

Tonight, the victim’s father reached out to the Forum saying the 13-year-old is physically okay but emotionally will have a road to travel down.
