10th annual Caregiver Conference was held in Moorhead

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A group of local health agencies is trying to help unpaid caregivers in our community.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A group of local health agencies is trying to help unpaid caregivers in our community.

They held the 10th annual Fargo Moorhead Caregiver Conference at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead.

And define unpaid caregivers as a spouse, partner, family member, or friend helping others with daily living or medical tasks, without pay.

Speakers addressed topics like the aging process, communication with health care teams, and balance.

Conference leaders say the number of unpaid caregivers is growing in the metro area

Tara Gise/MN Lutheran Social Service: “We're seeing more of a trend of people taking care of their loved ones at home for as long as it's healthy to do that, so for a longer period of time.”

According to the National Family Caregiver Alliance, there are more than 65 million unpaid caregivers in the United States.
