Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An F-M Diversion committee is excited, lawmakers in Washington moved closer to funding a Red River diversion project.

The F-M Diversion Project Assessment committee held its October meeting this morning.

It went over updated assessment benefit regions and tried to adopt a way to assign value to zero value records in Cass County.

Members also applauded The U-S House for passing the 8 point 2 billion dollar water bill, authorizing water projects, including the F-M Diversion.

Pat Zavoral/Fargo City Administrator: “It was 7 years for the authorization bill or water bill to be passed. Our sense is that the next big step, and that's going to come soon, will be funding.”

The bill's authorization does not guarantee federal funding.
