Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - They call themselves, The Nine.

Hutterites from North Dakota who recently left their family and friends at the colony, and are now on their own.

The Nine are now out with a new book called, "Our History to Freedom."

It talks of the hopelessness and dead-end life they all felt living in the colony, and the hypocrisy of religious life there.

The Nine are all born again Christians who say they were persecuted for their beliefs, forcing them all to leave the colony and go out on their own. For young girls, it was especially hard.

Karen Waldner: “And the more I gave up the desires to learn, by age 15 I got more sad and depressed and I was not outgoing I just gave up.”

That book signing starts at 6:30 tomorrow night at Zandbroz in downtown Fargo

And we'll have more on the Hutterites and their book, in a special report from WDAY 6 Reporter Kevin Wallevand next week.
