GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks man has pleaded guilty in federal court to an armed holdup of a Gilby bank, but asked to go to trial on two other counts.
Clifton Patterson of Grand Forks is charged with bank robbery by force or violence, carrying a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty earlier this week to the bank robbery charge.
Authorities say Patterson and William Collins used a shotgun to threaten a teller during the May 2009 heist. The teller was ordered to get on the floor and was handcuffed.
Trial is scheduled for Aug. 9 in Grand Forks.
Collins was sentenced in November to more than 26 years in prison.
