A rural Arvilla family had a rude awakening this morning when two pine trees smashed into their home.

The Sparks family heard wind pick up early Friday morning followed by a loud crash.

When they walked outside they saw two pine trees had not only damaged parts of their house, but smashed their son's car.

The family says they've never seen anything like it.

"It was very scary, a few more inches and it would have been right in our bedroom." homeowner Dorothy Sparks said.

"I heard a crash and my brother told me there was a tree on my car and walked outside, noticed there was a tree on my car." son James Opp said.

The family is now waiting to see what their insurance will cover.
