Vergas, MN (WDAY TV) - A change of plea hearing has been scheduled for a Vergas man charged with neglecting several horses.
Bill Fick was set to go on trial next week on 21 counts of animal mistreatment. Instead, he will plead guilty.
Authorities say Fick was charged after six horses were found dead on a farmstead near Vergas. Another 11 horses were malnourished.
His wife, Penny Fick, and her son, William Tomkins, were also charged in the case. Penny Fick has a plea hearing in December. Tompkins was sentenced to a year in jail.
Tompkins had been taking care of the horses while the Ficks were in Montana.
