Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Four local heroes receive awards this evening from the F-M Ambulance Service.

NDSU Police Officer Chris Potter was awarded a Medal of Merit for going above and beyond the call of duty.

He helped save a little girl when she went into cardiac arrest at a dance class.

Three others - Joan Bjertness, Sharri lacher and Bruce Anderson - received the Citizen Lifesaving Award.

They saved Bill Rakowski's life at an annual fall festival when he experienced a heart attack.

Bill Rokowski: “Not only to bring me back but not have any oxygen deprivation and to have complete function again. I was only in the hospital for three days. They did a wonderful job. They didn't even break any ribs on me, just got them a little sore is all.”

F-M Ambulances spokesperson said that without immediate CPR and use of an AED - the patients most likely would not have survived.
