Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - There are plenty of headline makers on this year's Bison football roster, players that have starred for four years.

There's another four year starter that no one has heard of, and that's just the way Michael Murphy likes it.

Craig Bohl – NDSU Head Coach: “Snappers are like the fire department, nobody knows about them until there's an emergency, something bad happened.”

Michael Murphy – NDSU Sr. Long Snapper: “I don’t want to make a mistake and I don’t want anyone to know who I am and I like that.”

Bison fans should know who Murphy is, a California native, who was recruited specifically to be a long snapper, even though he played linebacker in high school.

Murphy: “I would love to be out there and play 60 plays a game, like we said earlier, I've found my place and know when I'm going to make the best impact.”

And like most special teamers, he's a bit quirky.

Murphy: “I'm very superstitious, on where my hands, on field goals I have my hands like that...Why's that? If I have it like this on field goals, Ben has to spin the ball if I dont, Ben doesn't have to spin the ball cause it has same rotation.”

Murphy is the only Bison to have played all 50 games in the last four years.
