Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Moorhead Police Department is welcoming five new officers to the force.

Mayor Mark Voxland swore in the newest members - Officers Brandon Desuatel, Kimberly Meyer, Jesse Myers, Antonio Alston and Brandon Merkling.

They were the finalists, over more than 100 applicants to the department.

And although the families are proud, and concerned, the police chief says the new officers are in good hands.

Chief David Ebinger – Moorhead Police: "these people look after each other. They get the best equipment, the best training. This is the state that sets standards higher than anywhere else in the country for our police officers."

The officers join a force with more than 50 other officers.
