Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Schools in Moorhead are running out of space, especially at the Elementary level.

School district officials say right now, all of the elementary schools are at capacity, as well as the Probstfield Center for Education.

And Horizon middle school is getting there, too.

The district is growing about 150 kids each year and by 2020 they think it'll reach around 6,400 students.

They've converted other rooms into classrooms, but don't have any space left.

Wayne Kazmierczak – Assistant Superintendent: “We're standing in a room that two months ago, was a locker room in an old junior high school- this room is converted into a kindergarten classroom. So, we're essentially out of creative options in terms of creating classroom space.”

District leaders plan to come up with ideas to present to the board at its next meeting, November 12th.
