Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Thanks to the Salvation Army, a lot of metro-area families will stay warm this winter.

Monday marked the first day of its coats for kids and families distribution at the Moorhead center.

Parents and kids packed in to pick out coats, gloves, hats, scarves and boots; basically anything they will need come wintertime.

Organizers say as our area continues to grow, each year, they see more and more people in need of things many of us take for granted.

Albert Carriger- Picking Up Coats: “Without places like this, I’d be very worried; very, very worried because I do… I hear about the winters up here in minus 20, minus 30 and below.”

Distribution runs through Friday, and families can also register for Thanksgiving food boxes.
