Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Another weekend, another win for the top-ranked Bison football team, but this one was extra special for Bismarck native Esley Thorton, who made his first career start at linebacker.

The former quarterback replaced Carlton Littlejohn at the outside spot, and made 5 tackles against Missouri State.

It's a spot the Bison are thin at, so Thorton's progress is a good sign.

Esley Thorton- Moved from Quarterback to Linebacker last year: “It definitely was something I wouldn't have expected coming into my career here. But, whatever the position I was happy for the opportunity to contribute and be a starter. It's too bad Carlton went down, but the next guy has to step up. So, I got my opportunity and tried to make the most of it.”

The Bison travel to Southern Illinois next Saturday.
