Fergus Falls, MN (WDAY TV) - Kids and sports can go hand and hand with concussions.
In hopes of preventing any such injuries, a former athlete turned Fergus Falls Youth Football Coordinator and Wrestling Coach, is spreading the word about awareness and prevention.
Adam Schlepp, is incorporating "Heads up Tackling," a youth NFL program focusing on safe tackling techniques.
Schlepp says concussions can be hard to diagnose, but if not treated, they can have lasting damage.
Adam Schlepp- Youth Football Coordinator/Wrestling Coach: “Concussions derail kids in school miss 2 months of school or a month and a half of school. Not be able to be able to focus in class, not be able to do homework. Multiple concussions are the most serious."
Common concussion symptoms include tunnel vision, headaches, weak knees, confusion and light sensitivity.
