Sioux Falls, SD (WDAY TV) - Adrian Peterson's two-year-old son has died after he was beaten in an alleged assault by the mother of the child's boyfriend.
Joseph Patterson was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant in Sioux Falls, where this occurred. Peterson missed practice Thursday. He returned to Winter Park Friday and asked for privacy about the matter, but before this news broke, said he was going to play on Sunday.
Adrian Peterson- Vikings Running Back: “Plan on playing sound; will be playing Sunday, ready to roll and focus on worried about getting a win on Sunday. Football is something I'll always fall back on; gets me through tough times and been around the guys in here… That's what I need support me and go out and play the game I love.”
Leslie Frazier- Vikings Head Coach (ESPN): “Adrian is back with us now; had a difficult day Thursday because of a personal matter that he's dealing with. He has our prayers and support from this football team, from this organization, as he's dealing with a personal matter. We'll see how things go with him. We expect him to play, but this is a very personal situation that he's dealing with. We'll talk to him more in the next 24 hours.”
Sioux Falls police department says the state's attorney's office is reviewing case for additional charges.
