Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A soldier from North Dakota isn't letting her deployment get in the way of helping out during Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Brenda Olson of Minot is currently stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan.

She and others in her unit formed a fundraising team for CrossFit's "Barbells for Boobs."

The money goes toward breast cancer screenings for those who can't afford them.

The soldiers use free time between their busy schedules to organize athletic events and raise money online.

Brenda Olson, Kabul, Afghanistan: "To spread the message and to make a difference and to let people know that even though we're deployed, we still care and we want to use our strength as a family and a team and the amount of people that we have involved and show them that we want to make a difference."

The team is called "CrossFit KAIA" and they are currently in fourth place out of more than 700 teams worldwide.
