Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - The quiet bye week for the Vikings ended with a loud bang last night with the news that Minnesota signed former Tampa quarterback Josh Freeman to a one-year contract.

Freeman now joins a mess at quarterback with Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel...

Ponder missed the last game with a broken rib while Cassel looked sharp in leading the Vikings to a win, but Freeman has starred the last two years against Minnesota and the coach believes he can be a difference maker for the Purple.

Leslie Frazier- Vikings Head Coach: “We think he'll be able to help us. To what degree? Only time will tell, but we're looking forward to having him join our team and hopefully help us to get some momentum and continue the momentum that we started with that win against Pittsburgh.”

Christian Ponder- Vikings Quarterback: “I'm not management and my focus is getting healthy and preparation, and see what happens. It's not my decision; it's their decision. I can control how I play.”

Frazier added that he doesn't expect Freeman to play Sunday vs. Carolina. No word on who will start.
