Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Purple purses are making their way around the F-M area with the goal of bringing as much as $10,000 to the YWCA Cass Clay.

This is the second year the local chapter has been chosen for The Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Throughout October, if you watch this video of high school athletes passing the purse and enter the purse code on purplepurse.com, it earns money for the YW without any money coming out of your pocket!

Last year, the YW had the most passed purse in the nation, beating out big cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.

Erin Prochnow- YWCA Cass Clay Executive Director: “It does happen in our community, right here today. We have over 62 women and children residing in our emergency shelter and for today that is home for them. Projects like this help make sure we have safe secure shelter.”

For more information, we've set up a link to YWCA's Facebook page. You can find it online at wday.com.
