Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - People will have the opportunity to buy a piece of Grand Forks history next week.

On Tuesday, items from the Bronze Boot Steakhouse and Lounge will be auctioned off.

Reporter Michael Yoshida has the story.

David Leonard, Curt D. Johnson Company, President: “This was a neat steakhouse, very much a part of Grand Forks. Everybody loved the Bronze Boot. You wanted a good steak this is where you came.”

The Bronze Boot, with its steaks and old fashioned charm, was a staple of the Grand Forks community for over 50 years. Now, after being closed for more than a year, the items that made the old steakhouse a local favorite are now up for auction.

Leonard: “The public is going to want the pictures, and they're going to want the decanters and they're going to want all the memorabilia stuff, ‘cause there's a lot of neat stuff here.”

A variety that the auction holders believe will draw a large and diverse crowd.

Leonard: “So you're going to have a mixture of people. And then just the people that want to look at it one last time.”

While there's plenty for people to buy inside. People will also have the opportunity to get their hands on the original Bronze Boot neon sign.

Leonard: “The boot on the top of the building. I mean that's the biggest iconic symbol of the Bronze Boot.”

A closed steakhouse that represents a time past but not forgotten.

Leonard: “The good steaks is the biggest thing. It wasn't overly priced. It was just a good atmosphere. A good time when you came here.”
