As winter approaches, police urge drivers to prepare for conditions

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Some nasty winter weather crashes the first weekend of October just west of us. It may seem a little early for hazardous road conditions, but Bismarck Police say there were 25 weather-related accidents.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Some nasty winter weather crashes the first weekend of October just west of us.

It may seem a little early for hazardous road conditions, but Bismarck Police say there were 25 weather-related accidents.

It's time to rev up your winter driving skills.

Kelly Leben, N.D. Safety Council Instructor: "We have to always be evaluating where we're at and what the conditions are."

The North Dakota Department of Transportation reports more than 18,000 motor vehicle crashes each year, resulting in more than 5,000 injuries and nearly 150 fatalities.
