Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Construction is underway at MSUM for the campus's first co-ed bathrooms.

Male and female students living in the West Snarr dorm will soon be sharing a bathroom.

The dorm's current renovation project includes plans to have co-ed, compartment-style bathrooms on each floor.

There will be separate rooms for each toilet and shower, complete with full walls and doors with locks; then, a common area for sinks.

And while some students still worry about privacy, others welcome the change.

Ashley Boom- MSUM Freshman: “There might be a lot of privacy issues, but at the same time, we kind of respect each other as students. If they do certain things like lock it from the separate sides, there probably won't be a problem.”

Andrew Nelson- MSUM Freshman: “I don't think it really would be that big of a problem if everyone wore their clothes when they're in vicinity of each other.”

The dorm should reopen for students in August.
