Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's the end of an era at WDAY TV.

Mark Prather, Vice President of Broadcasting and General Manager of WDAY/WDAZ, retired Friday after 23 years here.

Mark started at WDAY in July of 1990, by way of Columbus, Georgia.

Mark saw WDAY through many major news events and upgrades: Going from typewriters to computers, incorporating our satellite truck, upgrading our editing and camera equipment, expanding our coverage area, making the conversion to HD – TV; all under his leadership.

From everyone here, we wish him the best in his retirement.

Bill Marcil, Sr.- Forum Communications Company: “A lot of changes take place, but Mark was the kind of operator where I really didn't get in his way. He knew the business and that was his job, but he and I counseled a lot; at least once a week. We'd talk about trends in the television business and he'd keep me informed; no surprises in other words.”

As Mark would say, “Elvis has left the building.”

Good luck and enjoy the warm beaches of Florida.
