Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Ready... Set... Read.

That's behind the national Read for the Record event.

The NDSU chapter of Golden Key International Honor Society paired up with West Acres to read to children.

The goal is to break the record for reading the same book to as many children as possible on a designated day.

The book of choice this year: Otis; the story of a tractor and a cow who become unlikely friends.

Breaking the record won't be easy. Last year's high mark was more than 2.3 million children participating, but the local organizer says that isn't the point.

Bonnie Cooper- Advisor, NDSU Golden Key Intl.: "Just the fact that you're promoting reading and literacy to kids, which is the basic foundation of everything they will do… It's a great event.”

If you want to take part, reading continues until 7 Thursday night.
