North Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A three block stretch of Oak Street in North Fargo is the most recent recipient of flood protection.

A FEMA grant is allowing city engineers to reconstruct the levee between 8th and 11th Avenue.

The city will lose 4 of the baseball diamonds at Mickelson Park.

Under the current setup, temporary levees now have to be built.

Nathan Boerboom- City of Fargo Division Engineer: “Prevent us from having to install the emergency levee down oak street, reduce our alliance on these emergency measures, that levee was one we had to install almost as frequent as the one down in front of city hall here on second street so this will be a good levee to have completed.”

The project is set to be completed in the fall of 2014.
