Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) - Instead of putting your spare change in a jar - how about using it to make a shiny coin floor.

Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes is doing just that making.

Thanks to grant money received through the Lakes Region Art Council.

Theatre organizers are specifically asking for pennies including foreign currency.

Viva Klundt- Holmes Theatre Marketing Director: "Basically we're going to take over 570-thousand pennies and we're going to completely take out the carpet on the second floor of our theatre and replace it with pennies."

If you'd like to help donation jars are placed around the community.

Work begins October 24th - anyone is welcome to help.
