BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota wildlife officials say conditions are good for duck hunting throughout most of the state.

A state Game and Fish Department spokesman says an annual fall survey shows a record number of wetlands in the northwest, while the rest of the state has wetlands similar to the 10-year average.

The duck hunting season opened last weekend for residents. It opened this weekend for nonresidents. It runs through Dec. 1.

State migratory game bird biologist Mike Szymanksi says most areas are wetter than last year, but hunters should always scout areas first because of changing conditions and waterfowl patterns.
