Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - The hits just keep on coming for the Minnesota Vikings, a 0-3 record, and then a trip to London and now their starting quarterback is out.

Leslie Frazier announced Friday morning that Matt Cassel will start on Sunday instead of Christian Ponder.

Ponder's out with a broken rib. Cassel hasn't started a game since last season with the Chiefs. Ponder's first three games have been inconsistent just two touchdowns to five picks.

Matt Cassel- Starting for Vikings Sunday: “I've been through it a lot, but at the same time, you still get those butterflies and everything. I just found out this morning, right before practice. But at the same time, we've been preparing for this. I had a good week of practice.”

Leslie Frazier- Vikings Head Coach: “Hoping that he shines; don't foresee a quarterback controversy, but we want him to play lights out… Best game of his NFL career on Sunday.”

Cassel threw six touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season with the Chiefs. It's a noon kickoff on Sunday.
