Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The price of postage stamps may soon once again be on the rise.

The US Postal Service will ask an independent postal regulation commission to approve a 3-cent increase to first class postage stamps.

The hike would make the cost of a first class stamp 49 cents.

However, for at least one loyal customer, the rise in cost won't deter her from sending mail.

Linda Ward: "That doesn't bother me. I will buy the stamps no matter what the price. I send a lot of cards to friends and relatives."

The U.S. Postal service says it's requesting the move to help offset more than $6-billion dollars in losses it faces this year.
