FARGO – Enrollment at North Dakota State University has hit an all-time high with 14,629 undergraduate, graduate and professional students enrolled for fall 2013.

That boost in enrollment can be attributed to a large freshman class and a more than 10 percent increase in graduate students.

With 2,553 first-year students, this fall’s freshman class is the second largest in school history and a 4.6 percent increase over last fall.

Though total enrollment is the highest in the school’s history, international student enrollment declined by about 35 students or 3 percent.

“Fall enrollment is higher than anticipated even though international student enrollment is down,” said NDSU President Dean Bresciani said in a statement.

He said enrollment growth reflects the school’s strategic plan to enroll more “traditional, full-time students” that fit into the “rigorous research university.”
