Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Panera Bread fans have been waiting for this day. The first one in North Dakota is now open in Fargo.
After only three months of construction, the restaurant and bakery opened its doors to long lines of hungry customers Monday morning.
Panera features both in and outdoor seating and a drive-thru.
Breads are baked fresh daily, and the café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with many healthy alternatives to "fast food.”
Kim Roux- General Manager: “We're really excited. This is a new project for Panera to come up into the Dakotas and we're excited to be here. We've been trying to expand and Panera is a growing company, so we're excited to be up here.”
Andy Doeden- Fargo Customer: “We're excited that it's here finally. My family loves it, so we're just excited to be able to come here to eat.”
Each night, Panera donates its unsold bakery items to help fight hunger.
A Grand Forks location opens October 8th.
