Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - While crowds packed into downtown, the thunder was on for tailgaters outside the FargoDome.

Many skipped out on ESPN's GameDay set to wake up at the crack of dawn and cheer on the team doing what they do best: Tailgating.

Lots opened extra early this morning to welcome them.

A few die-hards even set up TVs on their trailers so they could get a good view of GameDay right from their parking spot.

Even with some green and gold missing, the lots were full with fans and food a-plenty.

Justin McCullough- Tailgater: “Luckily, a lot of people have TVs here so we can still watch it. All of us have set our DVRs, so we're good to go, as well. So, we're not disappointed; we're excited.

John Rodenbiker- Tailgater: “Anytime you have an audience of millions from across the nation paying attention to Fargo, paying attention to NDSU and the Bison football program; it's awesome.”

And after the show wrapped up, buses brought fans back to the Dome to round out the day before the game.
