EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Eden Prairie police found a woman and a man dead Saturday in a shooting that prompted the evacuation of an apartment building for several hours.

Investigators weren't immediately able to say whether the deaths were a murder-suicide or double-homicide, police spokeswoman Katie Bengtson said. But authorities are not looking for suspects, she added.

A resident of the Eden Place apartment complex called 911 about 7 a.m. Saturday to report shots being fired in another unit. The Eden Prairie SWAT team and officers from other nearby suburban departments responded and surrounded the building.

Officers went door-to-door to evacuate all the 63 other units in the building as a precaution, Bengtson said.

No shots were fired after police arrived, she said, and attempts to reach the people inside the unit were unsuccessful.

Police found a woman's body in the apartment late Saturday morning and later used a Bloomington bomb squad robot to find a man's body. They also located weapons, Bengtson said, but added that she couldn't confirm what type.

The identities of the two people and the cause of death will be released through the Hennepin County medical examiner's office, she said.

Residents were later allowed to return home.
