GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The letters that once spelled out "Home of the Fighting Sioux" atop Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks now light up the night sky outside a rural home near Pisek.

The Grand Forks Herald reports reports Mike Dvorak made the high bid of $8,000 when arena officials auctioned off the full set of letters, seeking to recoup some of the expense of removing them. The sign and several others had to be removed under terms of a legal settlement with the NCAA and retirement of the nickname.

Dvorak says reaction so far to his new sign has been only positive.
