City reminds public for GameDay Saturday: $100 fine for drinking alcohol

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Be respectful and keep it clean: That's the message from the City of Fargo and Fargo Police about College GameDay Saturday morning.

Thousands are expected for ESPN's live broadcast from 8 to 11 a.m.

Police remind everyone that drinking alcohol in public spaces in Fargo, including streets and parking lots, is strictly prohibited.

In fact, you'll be fined $100 if you're caught violating the ordinance.

Fargo Police say they will be on hand to enforce the law.

Lt. Joel Vettel- Fargo Police Department: "We're going to have a tremendous amount of both uniformed officers and undercover officers inside the footprint of the event, along with a number of our private security folks."

Spectators are also asked to help keep the downtown area clean by throwing trash into appropriate bins.

An ESPN Green Team with cleanup after the event and the Public Works Department will sweep the streets before they are reopened to the public.
