Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - From our small towns, to the metro of Fargo-Moorhead, there are families every week in our area, dealing with a loved one lost to suicide.
This weekend in Fargo, families will gather to remember sons, daughters, mothers and fathers who died by suicide.
The 8th Annual Out of the Darkness Walk is set for this Sunday afternoon in Lindenwood Park. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m.
Today, some of the members of Team Joey talked to us about the recent loss of their sister, Jolene Lande, to suicide. She was 30 years old.
This Sunday, her friends will join 400 others in the Out of the Darkness Walk here in Fargo; an effort to educate and fund programs for suicide prevention.
Brenda Weiler- Family Started Walk: “And so now, when I come to the event eight years later and see families who have lost someone weeks ago, I am blown away by the strength it takes because I know how hard it is.”
The Weilers started the walk after losing a family member. Now, there are walks all across North Dakota, helping fund suicide prevention programs in schools, churches and law enforcement.
